SUT Notes

VMware ESX 3.5 update 3 is used as the hypervisor. There were multiple virtual machines running. Each Virtual Machine was configured with one VCPU running RHEL 5 up1 64bit
The VMs were located on a 15-disk RAID-0 VMFS volume
Used a 3-disk RAID-0 VMFS volume for Web Server logs
Ecommerce: Used two 250GB metaLUNs. Each meta-LUN was made up of a set of five striped RAID-0 LUNs. Four of the RAID-0 LUNs consisted of 15 disks, and fifth RAID-0 LUN consisted of 7 disks. Used VMFS file system to span both the metaLUNs to create a single 500GB logical volume. The VMFS block size was chosen as 2MB. The vmdk file was marked independent and non-persistent to facilitate the sharing by multiple VMs
Bank: Used two 700GB metaLUNs. Each meta-LUN was made up of a set of five striped RAID-0 LUNs. Four of the RAID-0 LUNs consisted of 15 disks, and fifth RAID-0 LUN consisted of 7 disks. Used VMFS file system to span both the metaLUNs to create a single 1400GB logical volume. The VMFS block size was chosen as 8MB. The vmdk file was marked independent and non-persistent to facilitate the sharing by multiple VMs
Support: Used nine 100GB RAID-0 LUNs. Four of the LUNs consisted of 15 disks each, one LUN consisted of 7 disks, and remaining four LUNs consisted of 10 disks each. Each of the nine LUNs used a separate VMFS file system. All the nine vmdk files were marked independent and non-persistent to facilitate the sharing by multiple VMs
Each of the VMs was configured with the default virtual LSI Logic SCSI adapter
